the Big Bang SouthEast

June 30th 2015

The Big Bang Fair South East is an exciting, interactive engineering and science event. Sound Vision Studio was invited to bring the cymatics interactive artshow to engage with the kids.  As our digital installations thus far had not catered specifically for a young audience, how could we offer an artshow which encompasses all that cymatics has to offer while appealing to the minds of kids?

The answer - Marbling cymatics!

We dropped coloured inks on the surface of the water and then sucessfully picked up the standing waves and convection patterns on paper.

What a success, We loved it and the kids had so much fun!

the Big Bang is part of a nationwide programme which celebrates and raises the profile of young people’s achievements in science and engineering. The Big Bang Fair South East was held at the South of England Showground near Ardingly, West Sussex. An estimated 7,000 9-19 year olds and their teachers from across the region attended show, enjoying a day of exciting and fun-filled shows, interactive displays and hands-on workshops, inspiring them to consider the varied opportunities and careers that studying STEM subjects can open up to them.
