MAGNOLIA CHINOISERIE Haywards Heath, Britain - 2015
Chinoiserie is a gilding technique of Japanese and Chinese origins which became fashionable in Europe the 1760's. Chinoiserie imagery is whimsical and light in subject matter and appearance depicting the flora and fauna of the natural area. The favorite birds, flowers and trees of the patron/ess are chosen, the work is designed and then painted by hand onto the prepared golden wall. Our walls are gilded with real or feux gold and the picture is then carefully painted directly onto the wall, decorating it like wallpaper.
Rachael Linton is Sound Vision Studio's chinoiserie artist & designer. She is a gilding specialist, loving the craft of how chinoiserie unites fine art techniques both contemporary and traditional along with pure luminous gold to bring delight into any home office or studio.
Drawing your vision with trained hand and artistic eyes she paints bespoke gilt interiors that will literally ... light up your life.

Haywards Heath, UK. Dec 2015
Inspired by 18th century chinoiserie Evas living room wall was transformed from damaged and dusty into a magnificent golden Magnolia tree with little white eye birds and a gerbil.
